It was a season that was all about the underdog.
The Simpsons went from being one of the most successful family shows on television to being a laughingstock of the internet.
That was when “The Rulers” was released and the internet exploded with the idea of a cartoon show about the world’s ruling class.
“The Simpsons” creator Matt Groening was tasked with telling the story of the people who run the country.
Groening and the writers of “The Last Simpson” took the idea to its logical conclusion and it’s been one of their most popular and enduring projects.
But what happened next?
The Simpsons Returns is back, and Groening has written a script that’s going to be just as funny and important.
Groenings latest script was a big hit at the Television Critics Association press tour.
The producers of the series gave it a perfect score, and they’re looking to do the same for the movie.
We sat down with Groening to talk about the latest chapter of the show and what fans can expect.
IGN: Let’s start with a brief recap of the season.
What did you think of season 6?
Matt Groeninger: Well, I think the first episode, I was pretty bummed, I wasn’t even in the show, I’m glad it’s coming back, but it’s going out with a bang.
The whole season was a huge hit.
I think we’re at a point where we’re not even able to put that episode into our show anymore.
We’re getting out of it, and I think fans have come back and they want it back.
And we think we have enough material to put it in a place where we can continue to do it for a long time.
IGN, how did you feel about season 6 coming back?
Matt: Yeah, I felt like I was in the room and the people were laughing at me.
It’s such a unique experience to be able to be in the Simpsons room, so when we were in the writers room and they were just talking about the idea and they weren’t laughing at it, I just thought, well, that’s what we do.
I feel like the audience is going to enjoy it, we have a great time making it and we’re all just having a good time.
And I think it’s really good to see what the fans think of it.
I’m not sure what’s in it, but we have all the jokes and all the characters.
So I’m really happy.
How does the movie compare to the show?
Matt, that was a great question.
The first episode was one of my favorite episodes of the first season.
I was really blown away by the amount of jokes that we did.
I just loved how funny we were.
I loved how many jokes we had.
I felt really proud of the script that we wrote and how well it was written.
I like the fact that the people in charge of the production are making it into something that people are going to want to see.
I’ve always been a fan of the Simpsons, and it was a really good thing to get it back, because the people that have been working on it for the last 10 years are very committed to making sure it’s always going to exist, but I just wanted to get to a point that I thought was appropriate for a show that’s been around for 10 years.
I mean, we did some stuff before, but never as much as we did this time.
We had some episodes that I felt were a little bit dated, but then we got to the point where people were like, “Oh, that episode was really great, but this one is going out.”
So that was fun.
IGN- What is it that the Simpsons has accomplished so far?
Matt- Well, one of our goals is to try to create a world that people can relate to, and so I think our goal is to create that world for people.
So, for us, our main goal is making sure that we create a rich and rich world that’s rich enough that people will want to spend a lot of time in that world.
And that’s the goal of the whole show.
That’s why we did it this way.
IGN.- Why do you think the movie is so popular?
Matt and Groeningers first screenplay, the one that hit the internet, was called “The Rule.”
Matt, you and Groener have done a lot together in the past.
I thought that was really funny.
You had a lot in common and I thought it was great.
And then the idea that we would do it again, because we’re both in the business of making movies, was really fun.
And when we started talking about doing a movie, we were just like, what’s the most exciting thing we could do?
I said, “We want to make a movie about a country, but what if we did a movie that’s really funny,
